I'd recommend having a look at this game for the unique qualities it has, but I don't know if the comedic lines from your virtual pet is quite worth it.
You need to start the game about twice a day to check on your pet and feed/reheat/oxygenate the tank. Once the eggs hatch it isn't long until their baby talk/gibberish turns into fluent English and they'll let you know when they're hungry. They'll let you know when they're not happy and will ask you questions. I gave this a few tries and kept running out of food and killing my Seaman. I was playing with my PC microphone and not the way it was intended on a Dreamcast so it could have effected it, but when he was asking me my age, he kept getting it wrong. That also happened other times as well. The speech recognition didn't work all of the time.
