"Sugar" Ray is the owner of an illegal casino, who contend with the pressures of vicious gangster and corrupt policemen who want to see him go out of business. In the world of organized crime and police corruption in the 1920s, any dastardly trick is fair!
Not funny enough for the talent in it. Not interesting enough and well made enough. There are a few laughs but there aren't a lot of noteworthy scenes and it never takes off and just ends. Eddie's laugh is damn annoying. Pryor isn't a great dramatic actor. He always seems to be staring. The dialogue doesn't fit the period and therefore takes you out of it.
