In today's episode, host Laura Reagan speaks with Dr. Eileen Russell about her book Restoring Resilience: Discovering Your Clients' Capacity for Healing. Eileen Russell is a clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City and Montclair, NJ. She is author of a book on resilience and affective-experiential psychotherapy called, Restoring Resilience: Discovering Your Clients' Capacity for Healing, published by W.W. Norton & Co. in June 2015. Eileen is Senior Faculty at and founding member of the AEDP Institute through which she teaches and supervises psychotherapists who are learning Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. She is also on the Faculty of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies' (NIP) Integrative Trauma Program. She is generally interested in integrative approaches to psychotherapy particularly those that emphasize psychodynamic and experiential models and has also studied and practices EMDR and Gendlin's Focusing. She believes the most effective psychotherapies combine depth with the power of a focus on the positive, change processes and resilience. She has taught and trained people in AEDP nationally and internationally and is happy to speak about it to anyone who is interested. Eileen's research and writing interests include the development of AEDP theory and practice, resilience, positive psychology and psychodynamic practice, and spirituality in psychotherapy, and most recently, psychology and social responsibility. She is a big believer in balance and finding time and space for contemplation, being present, and hanging out with her family.
