Madhuri Jha, director of the Kennedy-Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity, has been in the trenches of mental healthcare. Jha spent years working in New York City mobile crisis response vans. She met clients in crisis wherever they felt comfortable – from McDonald's bathrooms to public parks – and connected them with the medication, resources or higher care they needed. Now, she uses her on-the-ground experience to promote health equity for underserved populations, including BIPOC. Jha shares her thoughts on why improving access to mental health care is not enough, and how to build a holistic, healing health system for everyone.
