Pastor Guido Braun - despite the express prohibition by his Bishop Hemmelrath - cannot refrain from looking after mysterious deaths in his respective parish. Unfortunately, all too often these turn out to be insidious murders - and because of the publicity involved, Braun gets a disciplinary transfer about every two to three episodes. When "criminalizing" - as the bishop says - he comes more or less forced into conflict with the respective police "official authority", mostly in the person of the good-natured chief inspector Geiger, also transferred to supposedly quiet places.
