I actually liked the previous film more, it did have Damian in it, but I think this one was better, so I am giving it 5 stars.
I really liked John Constantine; he is a different kind of hero in my opinion, he's rude, he's kind, and he's smart, but most of all he's complex. I loved how they utilized Batman; he wasn't useless at all with a team of magic users, he used his cunning wit and prowess against new threats and he succeeded in his accomplishments. Batman is a badass and each writer that handles him should recognize that, like they did here, even though on paper he's out of his league, but the movie proves he's not; he's still Batman. Swamp Thing was cool and I liked how he was portrayed. Jason Blood and Etrigan were very fun and cool characters. I liked the voice acting for both of them. Zatanna was my favorite of the team, besides Batman, and she was really badass and awesome. The villains were cool as well, and I felt sorry for Richard a little. Deadman was fun too. I wasn't sure about the whole supernatural stuff before watching the movie, a little magic is fine, but I was worried about what a lot of magic would do for this DC universe, and I think it utilized and introduced it all well. Oh, and I was really happy that John Stewart was in this movie.
Sidenote, I read that Orm from Throne of Atlantis doesn't show up again, even though at the end of that movie Lex shows up to talk to him. I thought the scene meant that Orm and Lex would team up, but it went nowhere. What the heck.
Anyway, I liked the movie. The DCAMU has given me a lot of experience with good times. I recommend the whole universe. Please give it all a watch.
I think this should have gotten a sequel. I loved it, the twists, the turns, The Joker, and just everything in the movie I loved it. I didn't like Batman's blue suit, and Damian was barely in the movie, but other than that I loved it. I think a sequel with The Joker could have been awesome. However, Apokolips War is still a great conclusion so I am not complaining. I hope they bring the DCAMU back, but right now I am just glad to have watched these wonderful movies and I hope you loved them as much as I did.
SPOILERS for this movie and Batman v Superman.
I loved it! It was the pinnacle of a good animated movie, in my opinion. I disliked how they dropped the Wonder Woman and Superman romance, especially since they broke up offscreen, but everything else was peak fiction; the drama, Clark's parents, the action, Batman, Cat Grant, Doomsday, Damian's cameo, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, the animation, the music, the editing, and the stakes. Superman effing dies in this movie, and it's so dramatic, sad, traumatic, and impactful. In BvS, SPOILERS for Batman v Superman, Superman also dies and in that movie it was really impactful, sad, traumatic, and dramatic as well, but with this movie I cried when Supes died, and in BvS I got close to crying, but didn't. Not saying this movie is better or handled anything better than BvS, I just wanted to share that. I suggest watching this movie and Reign of the Supermen back to back, or order the extended edition with both movies. I loved this movie and I will be remembering it for some time now. Btw, I also loved BvS. Anyway, I highly recommend all three of those movies.
I really liked this one! I didn't like it as much as the Teen Titans movies or as much as The Death of Superman or Batman: Bad Blood, but this one has what those movies didn't have: a masterful villain.
No, I don't mean Darkseid, but he's really cool so I can't blame you if you thought I meant him. I mean Hank Henshaw, AKA Cyborg Superman. He's as cool and complex as Talon, more understandable and relatable than Talia, as thirsty for revenge as Deathstroke, if not more, has more personality leaps above Doomsday, more screentime than Trigon, and more petty than every other villain I listed before. He's just so cool and interesting to me. Hank really captured what I believe a good villain should be, except for being very smart or cunning which Hank isn't; he's not bright, as he fell for Lois' mockery which caused him to stop Darkseid's invasion, but I still loved Hank for who he was and how he became such a petty monster. Failed by his hero, the loss of his wife as too great for him to handle, so he wanted Superman to suffer, to know what it was like. He's not the most complex villain, and maybe I was exaggerating when I said he was as complex as Talon from Batman vs. Robin, but Hank will still be my number 2 fave villain from the DCAMU at this moment; Talon being my first fave villain from the DCAMU (he's smarter and more cunning than Hank, and maybe more understandable and relatable).
Anyway, it was good. I love Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman, and good villains, which Hank and Darkseid are, in my opinion. Other things and characters I liked were Cyborg, The Eradicator, Steel, Cress Williams playing Steel, Lex Luthor, Superboy, the Kents, Diana and Lois getting along, and how bittersweet the end was. I just wish Lois was less annoying and that Tony Todd didn't replace Steve Blum as Darkseid, but I still really like this movie and I highly recommend it.
