On a cold winter night in southern Delaware, while driving home from the office, Mickey Wolfarte noticed the faint glow of light coming from his recently abandoned radio station studio on the side of the road. As he walked around the small building and looked into the open window, he discovered 4 unknown individuals playing acoustic guitars and laughing. "I saw four young kids playing Blues music. You don't see kids playing the blues these days", said Wolfarte when asked what he thought after initially seeing the group. The former DEAD 101.7 FM radio station was owned by Wolfarte, and up until that point the building was just sitting abandoned and defunct. They seemed like they were just looking for a place to play their music, so instead of kicking them out, Mickey offered to put the group into a recording studio. Within 1 week of being in the studio, they finished 9 songs. Wolfarte says they sat around for hours watching horror fantasy movies and writing melodies. During their first studio sessions, they created the name The Dead Broken Heart, which is a reference to their love of horror movies and emotional music. Mixing blues rock melodies with the raw energy and distorted sound of hard rock, The Dead Broken Heart is one of the most creative and melodic instrumental bands in rock music.
