Review
In my last review, I talked about Release by Afro Celt Sound System, and how it can be easy to hate because of its new age tendencies. I bring this up because as much as some people may rip on it for being overly happy, cheesy, and pretentious, this album from German television personality Gotz Alsmann is all of those things and then some. The instrumentation is so chipper that it sounds like diabetes, the lyrics when translated are beyond stupid on these songs, and something about Gotz's voice just screams smug, self-satisfied jerk-off. Let me be clear that I don't know him personally and that he could be nice, but something about him gives me an unpleasant vibe. This is music for people with no real problems, and as a jazz fan, I am offended. This is the German equivalent of Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak starting a jazz career, and I can't stand it. If this site allowed me to give zeros, I would definitely give this album one.
