Review
I love Big L. He was an amazing rapper. There is no one like him. This kicks off in a promising way. 'u aint gotta chance' is great. The level of rapping from both is something not valued enough and reminds amateurs like Mac Miller what being a good rapper actually is. It's sparked a lot of debate too amongst hip hop heads who question why features and producers here aren't ones who were actually in-tight with Big L or at least around when he was rapping. '7 Minute Freestyle' is enjoyable but L murders Jay, particularly towards the end of Jay's second verse where he loses it. It's backed by Miilkbone's amazing 'Keep It Real' instrumental. Overall it's a solid project. I was hoping for more new shit and more Big L with fewer features and more songs that have the standard song structure rather than freestyles. For all of the shit some of Pac's posthumous projects get, at least they did feel like standard structured songs instead of demos and freestyles. Am I going to play this again? Probably not. If I want to hear Big L I'll play 'Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous'. A couple of the features are mid. Beats: ★★★ Rapping/Bars: ★★★★☆ Hooks: ★★★ Best Tracks: u aint gotta chance, RHN, All Alone (Quiet Storm Mix), 7 Minute Freestyle, How Will I Make It (Park West High School Mix), Put the Mic Down
