Tom is great as usual in the lead role but for the most part the story grabbed me less than most of the other MI films preceding this one. Again, I dislike the Benji character who just doesn't fit in at all with the other agents in the field. He is too much of a goofball. The amount of exposition in this seems less subtle as well. There is some 27 minutes in that really wasn't needed. And then later on Ilsa tells Ethan to remember something for exposition purposes. And then again there is some later in the movie. If the film is that complicated that you need to do this, rewrite the script, otherwise, don't insult the viewers and the characterisation of Ethan that you've built for 5 movies. There also seems to be more foreshadowing/luck to save the day in this film as well where precise predictions of the villain's actions are required. Also, the villain is trying to be menacing with the way he speaks but it doesn't quite work in my opinion. Overall, it all still makes for an engaging action film, but it could have elevated to the next level without these problems.
