I’ve never felt this neutral about a movie before. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. Problems: Sergio actor can’t do romance scenes, he just kind of stares at Ana until she does her next line, it’s like the only romance scene he’s seen in a movie before was Twilight. If you watch this movie twice, you’ve seen it six times, because for some reason pretty much every scene in the movie is shown multiple times, I get it’s a life flashing before his eyes kind of deal but damn, it’s like they lost 45 minutes of footage and had to replace it quick or something. Not much happens, there are three tense things that happen in the movie: a minor relationship problem, he makes his son cry in one scene, and the bombing, which is stretched out needlessly across the whole movie. Pros: Ana De Armas distracts from the rest of the cast being barely passable, the cinematography is good, there are a couple wholesome moments, the story it’s based on is good and important, and it shows how good people can be under dire circumstances. Overall its a good old fashioned case of potential falling flat, with only a few strings to pull it up.
