Aside from the annoying bits of wokeness that feels like the new standard in Hollywood productions nowadays , the movie achieves its modest goal, to be a run-of-the-mill easy to watch film for kids and Nintendo nerds alike. The stunning and varied visuals characteristic of the Mario universe are the most captivating aspect, but don't expect a groundbreaking story that will mark a generation. If you come to the theater with low expectations like me, you can't complain too much. Needless to say though, this will be easily forgotten.
