at five years old I loved this movie for eerie egyptian magic, story of love and death, assassin falconer warriors and ladies fighting. Now at the brink of thirty I love it for how incredibly entertaining it is despite (or thanks to) its tone all over the place, insane plot and already outdated CGI. It's so over the top that it becomes a camp masterpiece, and I'll prefer this movie over a hundred overpolished elevated message-endowed films of today, because it's honest in what it's trying to be. We've lost this honesty, really. I miss the straight cash grab movies made for entertainment only, because now they make them all ironic and meta. Damn this, give me my stupid sequel with Imhotep sliding into the picture screaming NOOOOO at the PS2 Scorpion King, this is peak cinema. don't mind the rating, this movie is a hot mess, but its my hot mess and i will die with its name on my lips
