I ummed and ahhed about this rating. I enjoyed it but it has some issues. Dolph's ability to convey emotion is extremely limited. He is 66 years of age and he definitely looks that way, if not older, with some of his movements, plus add in the medical issues he's had, and I can't imagine someone like him being a cop. Dolph's character is anti-Mexican of sorts at the beginning of the movie, and through his interactions with the women he is trying to protect, he seems to have his eyes open to what they go through that changes his perspective, but this doesn't seem too developed by the writers. The choreography of some of the fights/shootouts needed another take. For example, there are a couple of times where the shooter is aiming the gun forever at the target, but doesn't shoot, and then gets shot themselves. Aside from that, the acting is good, the pacing is fine, the story is engaging enough and the score was bangin' too. I also enjoyed the social commentary at the beginning of the film about the biased and repugnant media who paint everyone (non-white) who has an altercation with a cop as the victim no matter whether they are high, violent, run from the cops, have a rap sheet as long as a Lord of the Rings book, etc. 3 - 2.5 out of 5.
