As much as I love Arch Enemy, I can't say I'm as fond of the Johan Liiva era as the death metal purist crowd is. Granted, their debut has some great songs on it, such as the brutal Transmigration Macabre, the riff-heavy Dark Insanity and Bury Me an Angel, and Cosmic Retribution, which has this really unique acoustic passage in the middle. That said, it also has some dull songs on it, like Fields of Desolation, Idolatress, and Eureka. It also doesn't help that 2/9 tracks are interludes. Seriously, can we get a version of Demoniality that's stretched out into a full song? Because it's a great-sounding interlude that would've sounded amazing as a full song.
