When you see Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo together in a movie, you know exactly what you're in for: gunfights, explosions, and nonstop action from start to finish. Copshop doesn't try to be anything it's not, and that's precisely why it works. It's a textbook example of an action flick that gets straight to the point, delivering a solid dose of adrenaline without overcomplicating things.
The plot isn't particularly surprising, and the characters are pretty much walking stereotypes, but in return, you get a fast pace, well-shot fight scenes, and a touch of that '70s thriller vibe that gives it a certain charm. Joe Carnahan knows what he's doing, and although the humor can be a bit off at times, he mostly keeps the energy high and the movie moving forward.
It might not be a film you’ll remember months from now, but it absolutely does the job for a fun ride, with two actors who fit perfectly into this kind of story. It doesn’t reinvent anything – and it doesn’t need to. It delivers exactly what it promises.
