Its current 42% on Rotten Tomatoes is really low for the actual quality of this movie. I think many critics and viewers just dismiss it looks like a typical a holiday rom-com. It's actually a lovely movie! Have trust in Emma Thompson!

why didn't anyone tell me this movie was so good? i brushed it off when it was released bc i think i thought it was a dry and serious *historical piece* i wouldn't connect with or smth, but i finally watched recently and it's actually brilliant, hilarious, and entertaining all the way through
