Thematically, this movie is a masterpiece. Adult take on what living as a superhero would be like after “the glory days”. It’s realistic, and by that I don’t mean how in superhero movies there’ll be realistic relationships- I mean everyday events: marriage problems, depression, arguing about traffic problems, the ol’ driveby booty smack. The kind of things you don’t see in most movies at all even in a comedic capacity. It’s also got a theme of family, appreciating the people around you and knowing how your actions affect them. The characters are great, and I love how their personalities are reflected through their powers (eg. Frozone’s Ice= he’s cool, relaxed, Violet’s invisibility= she’s shy, dash’s speed= energetic, etc.) Although Syndrome. Holy fuck what a terrible villain. I legit can’t tell if he’s supposed to be hilariously bad or not. His motive is trash. His plan is overly elaborate. And he’s not intimidating at all. I get that he’s supposed to be the pathetic selfish child, but there’s no redeeming factors that make him intriguing or funny or anything apart from two lines. Animation wise, it’s stylisation is fantastic, I love the whole 60’s cartoon thing it’s got going, especially in the credits and intro sequence. Problem is, as great as the style is, during the movie, the quality is very inconsistent. Sometimes it looks great, but other times it looks completely unfinished, like they forgot to apply the shading or add details or a filter or touch up. Apart from those distracting moments it looks great though. Probably my favourite James Bond movie that I’ve seen so far.

I watched the movie again, and I hated it. Mostly Bob, and Dash. Frozone and Violet are my favorites. Syndrome dying is stupid in my mind because he just needed therapy. It is also very sad to see it with my eyes and feelings.
