Bet you didn't notice the memorable horror film starring Sosie Bacon who is actually the daughter of Kevin Bacon. It's only for a very short period of time that we found out that Smile actually stars Kevin Bacon's daughter, and if that's not enough for you then feel free to comment on my review if you have or have not heard about it. I personally don't mind. But anyways, let's begin. Smile is the most anticipated horror film from this decade it managed to get the audience's expectations who wanted to p***ed their pants scared. Therapist Rose Cotter meets graduate student Laura Weaver, who explains that she recently witnessed her professor killing himself. She claims to be terrorized by an invisible Entity that only she can see that appears as various smiling people and has foretold her death. She begins screaming and choking, prompting Rose to call for help; Laura suddenly calms down and smiles uncannily, then fatally slits her own throat with the shape of a smile. The next day, Rose sees a patient named Carl, who yesterday mumbles about everybody including himself is going to die, who smiles in the same way and tells her that she is going to die. Rose calls for nurses to restrain Carl, only to realize Carl has been asleep the entire time. She now she begins to have the same entities that her previous patient had leaving her going mental and crazy. With many recent horror films that are graphic, this one had me on the edge. With many horror films I've seen in recent years, this one I liked but there's one thing that I'm disappointed about is the ending. I mean, yeah, you all know what's going on in it if you haven't or have seen it, is the ending I did not expect but aside from that, I'm quite disappointed with it, which leads up to the sequel which I haven't that came out last year. Before I heard about the sequel, I'm impressed with the ending but now after I heard about it, I will be sure to get over it. The sequel which I've heard had outdone the first Smile making it a much better film but I heard it's gonna be gory so looks like I'm gonna get into the gory experience on the sequel. There's something about one scene that me at my eye presence when the entity pretending to be a therapist and she gets her and looks at her dribbling. What am I even looking at? That is creepy but this is something that a xenomorph would do. With Smile, I personally liked horror aspects that can make you jump. I personally can do the same thing to my family mostly making a very creepy face because I'm a creepy guy. Hahaha! Get ready for a horrifying experience again and the sequel with a smile on your face. Cheese!

Well, we have a recent film by Martin Scorsese that became memorable right after he directed The Irishman but only this one, Killers of the Flower Moon, distributed by Apple TV+ and Paramount so yeah, I guess this film is not going to get a physical media release anytime soon because you know what they're like nowadays. I reviewed The Irishman because I'm still thinking about working on my reviews of Martin Scorsese's other films anytime soon and this is not the first time that this film from Apple Studios that got listed in the Academy Awards, I think the first one it did is CODA. Haven't seen it but I know what'll come to me. Anyway, Ernest Burkhart played by Leonardo DiCaprio, returns from World War I to live with his brother Byron and uncle William King Hale played by Robert De Niro, on his reservation ranch. Ernest develops a romance with Mollie played by Lily Gladstone, an Osage whose family owns oil headrights. They get married in an Osage ceremony with Catholic elements and have three children. About moments later, One of the Osage members and relations in the Osage Nation are being murdered after oil was discovered on tribal land and it looks like someone has ordered these murders to happen to the Osage culture. You know, a lot of these plot line tropes are known to be done to death but in many different culture of countries and that is why Martin Scorsese is known have those plot points in his own filmography without going too far on them. I know I looked online and I saw John Lithgow's in it including Brendon Fraser. I'm surprised they don't get enough screen time like I thought they would do. I just recognise somebody from the previous film, The Irishman. You may know a face but don't know a name once you watched the two back to back. Consider that movie is the last of Martin Scorsese before he directs something else first we have two actors, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, they both appear in many films by Martin Scorsese collaborating with him frequently. First off we have Robert De Niro. Yes, they're both so young at the time they both started making movies together collaborating with each other, the duo did Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, New York, New York, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, Cape Fear and the last one Robert stared by Marty way before he starred in The Irishman is Casino. And now Robert and Martin have both starred in an animated film by Dreamworks called Shark Tale, so yeah, what could possibly go wrong with Robert as a shark and Martin as a puff fish? Haha. And as for Leonardo DiCaprio however, he starred in Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and then The Wolf of Wall Street. And now the two both starred together in Killers of the Flower Moon which Is actually amazing and all I can say, Marty can do no wrong. He's a fantastic director of all generation. What can I say about Killer of the Flower Moon that hasn't been said already? Well, all I say is that it's brilliant, just like many films that Martin Scorsese did. And considering it's three hours long just like The Irishman, I have no problem with it being three hours. Just the length which I know some people won't agree with me but that's fine. It's a masterful film with many aspects about it to enjoy with it's compelling story that had a lot to offer, acting that is immense, directing which I know Martin can do no wrong as I said today and the cinematography is very good in the right colour. Since of today I don't have the Apple TV+ material of watching this movie so now I have to watch it online since it impeccably caught my interest due to Martin Scorsese being my favourite directors of all time so I have to do just that and then review it like I doing right just now. Killers of the Flower Moon is a memorably epic anti-western film that really does get people's attention from Scorsese fans including film buffs since Martin has never done a western before. This might interest a lot of those who actually an Apple TV or not.

You didn't think I was going to move on to something else without reviewing Kinds of Kindness after reviewing Poor Things, right? Well, worry no more because here I am going to do a third film I've watched directed by Yorgos Lanthimos. Starring the same cast Poor Things with Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley (which I didn't mention 'cause there's nothing to her in it), the way I require this movie Kind of Kindness is not just one story, it's actually an anthology film with three stories thrown in together about the R.M.F. which I have no idea what it stands for whether if it's the death of it, whether if it's flying or whether if it's eating a sandwich which I have no idea what the film's about. Let's get on with it. Part one is where it follows Robert Fletcher following every single order from his boss, Raymond. He controls every aspect of Robert's life, including setting him up with his wife Sarah, buying their house and car, and dictating when they can have sexual intercourse. One day, Raymond orders Robert to crash his car to kill the "R.M.F.". Part two is Police officer Daniel mourning the disappearance of his wife Liz, who went missing at the sea, but when he received the news that she has been rescued in a helicopter piloted by R.M.F. She returns unharmed to Daniel, but many things about her are strange; whether that her behavior and interests seem to be the opposite of how she was before. Is she really Liz or is she something else? And the last part is Emily and Andrew are members of a sex cult led by the enigmatic Omi and Aka. The cult's ritual for cleansing involves sweating out "toxins" in a high-temperature sauna if accused of infidelity with anyone other than them two, whether if someone is licking the sweat from their navel to determine if they are cleansed. They are looking for a specific woman with the ability to reanimate the dead. They examine a candidate named Anna, whom they find to be unsuccessful. Yeah, with those stories mentioning the R.M.F., I don't know if it had something to do with Karma or any other stuff that everybody's doing in recent years whether is something dumb, dark or people are just doing plain stupid things in their lives because I don't know what the hell R.M.F. meant but I will have to look it up after reviewing this movie. Yes, Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley appearing in this movie just like Poor Things where is this movie however is kind of an anthology film which I know before seeing is a comedy drama but dark, good God, I did not expect it to be dark. Yes, Poor Things is dark too but I did not expect this movie to be this dark. Weird? Yes. Bizarre? Yes. Both of these answers that completely describe how completely messed up this movie and the world is today? Godly, yes. Sometimes one time it'll just be like Monty Python's The Meaning of Life but it really reminds me of something that Quentin Tarantino would do like this is something that reminds me Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs or Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. Yeah, Margaret Qualley would star in his again. How do you like that? Woowoo. But he was thinking of something else like he stated the last film he was going to do before moving on to something else. Like I said before, any movie that is going to be weird and bizarre, I'm all in for it. I'm a curious courteous movie reviewer, just like I mentioned before. Whatever I experienced so far, yeah, this is actually quite great. Nothing Oscar worthy even by the film industry standards but Kinds of Kindness is once again a one weird, bizarre and absurd film. Now from what I looked online today is Yorgos Lanthimos has worked on another film called Bugonia which again stars Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons but from what I heard so far today is that this is yet another one of those weird, bizarre, absurd and dark movies that I will experience in a near future. Oh boy! Yorgos, you are one weird S.O.B. you really were which is why your films have become memorable and compelling any many way imaginable. We love you, man. Oh, boy! A fourth film starring yet again Emma Stone. (Oh, boy! (5X)

From the director of The Favourite, of course I mentioned Poor Things in it whilst reviewing it which I'm going to do Poor Things right now, and Emma Stone is in it and now this. As I'm watching this movie, all I can say is that this is just a drama filled with really weird and bizarre imagery I have ever saw in my life. It might be everybody's cup of tea which I know that they don't wanna see weird images that are completely bizarre. That might just put them off and they might be having dreams about them even though this film has got strong scenes of sex in it. A mute woman who is not actually mute at all called Bella Baxter played by Emma Stone, who is a childlike female infant but not as you know her due to the scientist Godwin Baxter played by Willem Dafoe. He recruited Max McCandles to record the behaviour of Bella Baxter. He falls in love with Bella and proposes marriage to her. She accepts, but soon discovers sexual things which leads her to run off with lawyer, Duncan Wedderburn played by Mark Ruffalo. She wants to go out and explore the world like she has explored before as she has never been out like ever. What's really amusing to me which I didn't just like The Favourite is that this is actually a comedy drama. Why didn't I think of this before? Well, I'm more focus on the drama but later recently I found out is that this is actually hilarious. "Good God, Bella, you cannot speak like this." "Polites of society. I forgot." And as I didn't expect the film to be funny, I found myself as he said: He has sent a demon at large into the world. The devil's wrapped in an alluring body that cannot be satiated and a mind that picks people apart stitch by stitch like a bloodied and burned rag doll shat out of an elephant's arse." (Laughing) Oh, God! (Laughs) And after he said that line and Max said to Duncan that Bella's her fiancé, he just farts and I was like "Did you fart?" That's how unbelievable the dark humor is hilarious. It looks like Yorgos Lanthimos makes his films more comedically dramatic even this one has incredibly bizarre imagery looking things you might be puzzled as you're asking yourself "What am I watching?" like you've seen nothing like this before. This is something that Tim Burton would do if he came up with an idea himself but with the sex and nudity brought on board, he might be thinking that this is not his thing so he is known for creepy and horrifying imagery of his films so here's that. Speaking of weird and bizarre imagery, you cannot deny the fact that production designs in this movie are absolutely gorgeous. Whether it was taken place in a town, the ship, the sea, anywhere. And that's what makes the cinematography itself look very appealing. Emma Stone as Bella Baxter is your typical woman child acting like a female infant but as she's about to explore the world like she'd nothing like ever before, she not acting childish at all. She's being normal especially when she's talking rude, furious jumping and of course, w***ing other men. Good God Almighty! And that's why her performance is so incredible you can't help but root for her. As much I love The Favourite which is well beloved by many people who think Yorgos Lanthimos is a fantastic director, Poor Things is an incredible movie that brings many joys which at first may find it weird to it's weird bizarre imagery they might see if they're curious or not but whatever weird film I'm into, this one really is memorable with it's phenomenal acting, immense directing, beautiful production designs, incredible cinematography, the story is compelling and the dark comedy is absolutely hilarious. I would honestly say that any film that is going to be weird which I didn't expect to be weird, I don't care, I'm all in for it. There is another film by Yorgos Lanthimos called Kinds of Kindness which I know for certain is a comedy before seeing it after looking up on it on Wikipedia and for all I know it stars the same cast from Poor Things too, and yes, I'm interested in seeing it too without a doubt. Also, if you remember Poor Things in general even if you have an Letterboxd account, this is where you see that still from that movie before The Substance took over. So anyways, Poor Things is an incredible film, love it to death. Call me a weirdo to liking this movie, I'm not a weirdo, you are. I am a courteous movie reviewer.

Phrew! That's a wild one! If you're thinking that you've never heard and seen one of those actresses who played one of the hippies from Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood just like I mention one from Anora then you might be looking at the other one now in the next film I'm doing right now, The Substance. You know, from what I heard and seen from the cover, this is going to be one hell of the grotesque thrill ride. Especially when the still of that film you're thinking of getting a Pro upgrade of your own account from Letterboxd. Yes, that's that still clip from The Substance. Starring Demi Moore, Dennis Quaid and of course, like I said, one of the hippies, Margaret Qualley. With Coralie Fargeat directing the film, I heard that she's taking this film on the Cronenberg side which is one of the reasons why this is a body horror film known to be taking inspirations from David's previous films like Videodrome, The Fly and Dead Ringers so yeah, before seeing this knowing this'll be gory in general, I know I'm going to be in for one bloody and gory journey. Hollywood star Elisabeth Sparkle played by Demi Moore, is being dismissed from her long-running aerobics show by its producer, Harvey played by Dennis Quaid, because of her age. Geez, that was ageist and sexist. She crashes her car while looking at a billboard of herself being taken down. She orders herself a drug called The Substance and injects the single-use of serum and she convulses herself into a younger woman called Sue played by Margaret Qualley. At the advert says that one has dreamt of better versions of themselves as they are one. The two bodies switched consciousness every seven days without exception, with the inactive body remaining unconscious. As Sue starting to become a star while Elisabeth's stardom is fading away still, she thinks something went wrong as Sue is not respecting the balance, everything goes t**s up from here. What makes this movie so memorable is makeup effects like the effects itself is phenomenal even towards the end when I think something is not going to end well, it really doesn't end well as all and that's why it's a wild as hell if you know what's going to happen even you haven't got a clue what it is then you know it's going to be gory by a minute. And why did Harvey have to fire Elisabeth from the show 'cause she's getting old? I mean, he didn't just say that she was fired, he was just stuttering and then changes the subject as he see a friend of his. She wasn't told she was dismissed, she heard him saying he wanted a hot younger woman star in the men's toilet room, so yeah, that's kind of ageist and sexist, if you know what I mean. Hehehe. Coralie Fargeat, a director who I never heard of before which comes to my knowledge as I said before is known to have taking inspirations from David Cronenberg with the body horror but that's not one thing that goes to mind. She's also taken influences from the likes of John Carpenter, David Lynch, Paul Verhoeven, and Michael Haneke (never heard of him). Many influenced films by these directors have known to be memorable and good looking by their own right. Way before The Substance she did, there's another film which I never watched is directed by her and that's Revenge. From what I know so far is that this is similar to Mad Max and Rambo as this was influenced as well. As for Elisabeth wanted to be a better version, she's already as fit and hot as she can be just like Jane Fonda, that is to say, she's still sexy in every yoga class she's been in and Sue is much hotter and fitter which is why she become even more sexier. And as for the gory parts being too graphic which is why we love about it and the t**s and a***es are sexier too. As it is, The Substance is one helliva gory thrill ride filled with a good story, great directing, acting and makeup effects especially the gore effects are very satisfying. If you want a trippy experience like The Substance, check out the list of the films that you found similar that you have experienced before like what I've looked upon is that The Substance completely influenced David Cronenberg's The Fly, John Carpenter's The Thing, The Coen Brothers' Barton Fink, David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, Darren Aronofsky's Requiem for a Dream, and Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. What more could you want? It is completely one hell of a trip! The Substance is something that will keep the horror fans invested in the gorefested thrill ride they've ever wanted and I hope Coralie Fargeat has got something up her sleeve when she comes for an idea for another film she is thinking about doing and that is why it is one of the best films of 2024. Ta-da!
