Not a great album, and having heard Tank's other albums it's fair to say Tank improved from here. There isn't much to go back to. The ballads on the whole aren't anything special as aren't the upbeat tracks. The second half of this from 'Slowly' is probably the better portion of the album. Best Tracks: Lady on My Block, Maybe I Deserve, Kill 4 You

The production isn't too bad but his flow/voice just gets too tedious on most tracks. If the songs were half in length it may have worked. Due to liking the production on 'Foolish', Ain't Telling You', they most likely the only songs that I will play again.

This is similar to his solo debut. A lot of conscious hip hop about fake gangsters in rap/the industry, how Sha is smarter than your average rapper and so on, with a few girl-themed tracks in between such as 'The Milf Song'. The beats are also similar in quality and the vibe they give off. There are a few tracks such as 'The Mirror' that are more intense and work well - I was waiting for something different in the beats. If there's one thing about the type of lyrics Sha spits, it's that they get repetitive. Sadly it's easier to listen to a whole album about killing a people with an AK than this, because it begins to get boring. Still though, if you liked his debut this is well worth checking out. Best Tracks: Saviour, Believe Me, The Mirror, Effortless, Can't Stop, Hood Remix.

Once again, like every Roots album I've listened to so far, the album maintains a consistent sound (they produce 'albums'), but not enough stands out to me as a classic track. It's probably a combination of the vocally undistinctive rappers and the beats which don't bounce and/or vary enough throughout the album. This has slightly grown on me after 3-4 spins but so far from five of their albums I've checked out I'm unstimulated by this critically acclaimed hip hop act. Best Tracks: The Spark, Ain't Sayin' Nothin' New, Adrenaline!, Don't See Us

Some albums take a while to grow on you, but from the word go the funky gangster beats on offer here make you wanna bounce. Despite the album title, it isn't quite as hard lyrically or musically as say Tim Dog's 'Penicillin on Wax'. In saying that, the funky production probably downplays the lyrics though. The beats are perhaps a bit dated for '93 and I feel like they could have been years older, but nevertheless they still bang. Well worth checking out if you like your rap funky. Best Tracks: U Don't Hear Me Tho' (Street Only)/(Radio Mix), What Really Goes On, The Jammy, California Cruiser, Wake Up New York
