This is more or less your usual late '90s R&B album. Among the slow jamz and ballads are hip hop influenced/upbeat tunes also with Miss Jones voice providing a nice backdrop. However, there is nothing that has completely grabbed my attention here. Reasonably consistently solid, but nothing sensational. 2.5-3 / 5.
Best Tracks: Baby Maybe, Won't Stop, Love Under New Management, My First Love
The only thing that saves this from being subjected to a lower rating is 'Batman' which I have to admit to somewhat liking. Most of the rest of the album, however, is among the worst hour of hip hop I've heard. If you get through all of this you will probably be hearing OJ's ad-libs in your head which are constant throughout the whole album.
Aye!
Best Tracks: Batman, I'm Gettin' Money, Washing Powder, Trap Work
I don't know if T-Rock is my favourite rapper, but he would have to be my preferred rapper that few hip hop fans seem to bother checking. As always Rock's rapping is brilliant. If some of these beats were with other rappers it would be mediocre, but T-Rock can make an average beat a good song. The beats do sound a bit cheap maybe, but if you enjoy any previous T-Rock albums this is pretty much along the same lines before his production starting sounding crisper on future albums. The standouts here ain't his best, but it's a really consistent disc.
Best Tracks: Act a Fool, 2 Strong, Sewed Up, Bows and Dro, Blazed Up, Eyes of da Master
I'm a fan of Erick Sermon and Keith, but I think that this is one of those albums, like other debuts, that are overrated compared to the albums that followed. His next two albums in my opinion are both better. I've tried to get into this, but apart from the title track and 'Get Lifted' there is little I find memorable throughout the album. Not much pops at all.
Best Tracks: The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World, Get Lifted
I've never understood why this has such a worse reputation this his debut in some circles. Unlike GRoDT, there is no theme here among the beats, but personally there is more production on this that I find to be original and enjoyable compared to 50's debut. They also hold up much better in 2013 than they do on his debut. I'm not a fan of 50 on the microphone and as a person I've seen enough evidence to believe he is a garbage human being, but the production is its strength and is strong enough to help this earn a 3/5.
Best Tracks: I'm Supposed to Die Tonight, Piggy Bank, Ski Mask Way, Gunz Come Out, Hate It or Love It [G-Unit Remix]
