It is hard to get too excited about this these days, after playing many button mashing games over the years, but this does what it does well, offering various events from skiing, ski jumping, bobsleigh, speed skating, cross country skiing and so forth. It isn't a bad looking Saturn title either.
I bought this after playing the first game and enjoying it. While it's more than playable it just isn't as good, too much of the same environment, lacks the originality the first game had and just isn't as fun.
As would happen on the older consoles, sports games would be repackaged with a new title offering identical gameplay and graphics. This is the case for this and ATP Tour released the following year.
Gameplay 3.5/5
Graphics 3/5
Sound 3.5/5
Difficulty 3.5/5
Originality 3/5
This tries to do too many thing without doing anything well. First up, you control a boat with your job to shoot the enemy's ships. With only 8 directions that the SNES allowed for, this is too inaccurate and boring. When that's over you control Mariner trying to collect treasure from the deep while trying to avoid sea creatures. Then you are back to controlling the boat. And finally Mariner is back on a ship, this time with a sword/gun fighting villains. The combat here is poor, particularly with the sword.
This is from Telltale Games so if you have played any of their games chances are you'll know what do expect here. Like Sam & Max games this is fairly challenging, but if you persist with it the plot is interesting enough as usual. I always feel that these kind of games could be made more user friendly though.
