Overall, the beats aren't terrible on this, but I don't know if Mac is trying to fit too many words into each bar or what, but unlike the best rappers, he really doesn't make spittin' sound effortless at all. An average rapper. While beginning reasonably well, it fails to maintain my interest the further the album goes on also. Best Tracks: Blue Slide Park, PA Nights, Frick Park Market

To be honest, 'Miami' is a guilty pleasure that's a great pop rap anthem, and if the other singles were to come on the radio I wouldn't be displeased to hear them, but the rest of this is fairly forgettable. I'm not one to play this these days, but it ain't a bad pop rap album and a good album if a young person you know likes hip hop, but you want to protect 'em from violence and cursing for a little longer. Best Tracks: Gettin' Jiggy Wit It, Miami, Just the Two of Us, Men in Black

I think this is one of those albums that if you heard it before the plethora of similar hip hop albums released around this time, that maybe you would think more of it than vice versa and it would have a higher overall rating than it does. Having heard so much boom bap/jazz rap from the early/mid 90's era myself, while a really good album, it doesn't reach the brilliant heights of others, largely from a standout point of view. While there are plenty of great tracks there isn't an amazing track or two present here which let it down. Overall though, it's a highly consistent record and well worth a four out of five. Best Tracks: C'Mon wit da Git Down, Heavy Ammunition, Attack of New Jerusalem, Whayback, Dynamite Soul

This begins well, the first four songs are great, but I've never loved the middle to second half of the album enough to call this a true rap classic that many tend to. For only eleven songs, the standard needs to be touch higher for four outta five stars. 'Testify' (annoying repetitive overpowering sample), 'Love Is...' (stock standard song, nothing great about it), and 'Real People' (best of the three but similar to what I said about 'Love Is') don't grab me enough. Best Tracks: The Corner, GO!, Faithful, They Say

I love Ne-Yo's debut 'In My Own Words'. After one listen this didn't impress me a huge amount, but after listening to it again it has grown on me. I still don’t think it's near 'In My Words' though as a number of the songs' production leaves something to be desired. Nevertheless, it's solid and has only a few tracks that I don’t like. The best stuff I love but there are a number I'm not feeling a lot. Best Tracks: Because of You, Do You, Go on Girl (Apparently Michael Jackson's favourite Ne-Yo song)
