After the opening skit, Strange Journey Volume One kicks off with 'Nothing But Strangeness'. I'm not a huge fan of the strong Aussie accent in the second verse of it but nevertheless, it's an alright opener, but everything apart from 'Hypnotized' after that is an improvement. I've always loved hip hop with strings/orchestral influences which makes the live 'Lynguistics' enjoyable. Following that is 'Move' which is awesome, and I would cite it as my pick from this disc. The only thing that stops a couple of tunes like 'Never Come Down', 'Die for You' and 'K.K.K.Y.' being grouped with the above songs are the chorues. It's almost chip-monkish and a tad annoying. Don't get it twisted though I still like 'em, but they are brought down by the chorus. To sum up, Strange Journey Volume One has brilliant production by Kno with good verses and rapping more often than not. With better choruses on those tracks mentioned this is a possible 4.5 / 5. They bother me a bit though which is a shame. Still though, 4/5, plenty of good tracks and apart from 'Hypnotized', which I don't feel much, there is something to like in every song. Best Tracks: Move, Spark My Soul, K.K.K.Y., Georgia, Die for You.

Solid southern rap album. Has hits, but also misses. If you like southern rap and the subject matter of drugs, you'll like the best songs a fair bit. There is some great production present. Would've been a lot better off discarding 3-4 songs though. The sound gets repetitive. *Unfortunately the best song, 'I Learned', has been removed from streaming platforms. The sample mustn't have been cleared or something... Best Tracks: So Fresh, I Learned, Inhale, Money By Da Bags, 16 oz., 23 and 1, What Cha Need, If We Was Cool.

While nothing brilliant, this is a nice laidback listen from an album from the golden age of the genre when many artists were imitating great music. It's a breeze to get through at only 27 minutes long. Best Tracks: Don't Categorise Me, Still Waitin', Focus.

This is the second Goodie Mob album that I don't quite see the acclaim for. While it improves in the back-end, there are too many beats that don't hit home despite some potent content. 'Beautiful Skin' and 'They Don't Dance No Mo'' are a couple of examples. 'I Refuse Limitation' is one of the strongest tracks but with a touch more in the production, it could be a 5/5 song. Best Tracks: Black Ice, I Refuse Limitation, Still Standing

What's not to like about this album? It's just good east coast/boom bap/hardcore hip hop and like Neek's solo album, 'Exotic's Raw', (that is also partly produced by Large Professor) is underheard. There are about half a dozen excellent tracks featured, with the rest being quite solid. As I write this with December 2011 upon us, I'm not sure if I've played a 2011 album as much as I played this when I got it. Well worth checking out. Best Tracks: Still on the Hustle, Guess Who, Street Rebel, Hip Hop, Head Spin
