Innovative take on the "Groundhog Day" concept of reliving lives. Both the minute to minute mystery and the grander game are fascinating. It is sometimes a little difficult to follow. There is really only a handful of characters but the reexamination of each of them on repeated cycles of the story does a lot to keep them interesting and flesh them out. Very strong recommend.

First in the series for me, extremely entertaining. There's a lot of history that I think even being my first book brings me in and I can follow easily without having the backstory. Feels like it could be its own standalone series. I'm sure if this were a later read I wouldn't rate it as highly, but in spite of that does everything I want a fantasy book to do.

Much more fleshed out characters and writing. This is where the world feels more lived in, as if there are things that happen not part of the plot. Again an entertaining continuation of this series.

I happened to read this after Fragile Threads of Power, so was spoiled on a lot of it. Usually this has little effect on my enjoyment but since a core piece of the story is figuring out what the deal is with each of the characters and why they act this way, I was taken way out of it. Overall a competent if derivative start to a fantasy series.

Unique eldritch fantasy that is unlike anything I've read before. At first a little difficult to ascertain the story, and how it introduces the protagonists is a little opaque, but once it gets going is fascinating.
