Conceptually interesting with compelling character backstory and motivations. A little tech-priest preachy about the power and utilization of technology in the setting of sustainability. But does have some interesting things to say on the topic.
Short sweet adventure book. Nice character moments, but nothing that leaves a deep lasting impression. The romance is a little clumsy, but gets there eventually.
Sometimes entertaining and endearing but overall frustrating. The main character tries to engender himself to us with self-deprecation but it comes off as whining, pandering, and extremely self important. This would not normally be a problem but by the end of the book he does not show an ounce of self awareness. In addition, the ending isn't at all earned by the character.
Good for a kids book, but not a good book.
Strong science fiction with both hard elements as well as full of implication within the writing. Great as a specific character study for an introvert encountering something like alien life. Very entertaining throughout.
Like all Michael Schur shows, this is a breath of fresh air. A unique low stakes, heartfelt mystery with insightful things to say about relationships and aging. Witty and engaging writing and meaning character relationships make this a show that sticks with you. Strong recommend
