One of my favorite things to watch over the last couple years. Does an excellent job condensing the high concept book into digestible and relatable scenes that I think would otherwise have some difficulty reaching large audiences.
Take some liberties to update a relatively old narrative to modern sensibilities, particularly with Chani’s character, but I appreciate the changes. The inclusion of Christopher Walken as the emperor when he has like 4 lines is baffling, but still, atmosphere and world building and nonverbal characterization all excellent.
I laughed out loud every minute for the first 20 minutes of the movie watching by myself, which I think is a huge mark of distinction. Very funny UNTRUE take of Weird Al’s career. The tongue is all the way in the the cheek with this one. Recommend as a light watch for strange people.
Interesting zombie movie without much story, stuff just kind of happens. Funny dialogue, especially from Adam Driver’s character breaking the 4th wall. Definitely feels like there are references I missed.
Feels like a zombie movie made by people who like zombie movies but don’t love them. Theres an air of “Im better than this” from all of the actors and from the visual direction in general.
