I read nothing complimentary about this game before I tried it out. I even read that it was a Call of Duty clone, but as far I know there were FPS' around before COD - I don't see the similarities here. However, this game reminds me of earlier FPS' as there is nothing too complex about it, it's just an intense shooter with some stealth thrown in. While they are fine, most of the graphics are far from groundbreaking as well that perhaps adds to that feeling. Overall it's a fun shooter with a few porting issues on the PC regarding the controls, but it's nothing that ruins the game. Gameplay 3.5/5 Graphics 3/5 Sound 4/5 Difficulty 4.5/5 Originality 2/5

Given the success of FC3 it isn't too surprising that this sequel lacks much innovation and we've been given Far Cry 3 2.0. Bell towers, outposts, vehicles, similar skills, enemies and weapons are some of the similarities and the story isn't as interesting either as the previous game. That's not to say there is nothing new but there won't be much of a learning curve if you've played FC3. I found myself choosing to do more of the side missions/tasks in this. While the world is apparently the same size as FC3, this was partly because I was getting tired of the A-B travel. Fun, plays great, but too similarly to FC3. The best thing about the first game in the Far Cry series was the graphics. While they do not feel as groundbreaking in this, they still make for a picturesque environment as the developers have thankfully returned to the tropical island setting that the first was in. In Far Cry 3 the story is fairly interesting with the premise being that a group of vacationers get kidnapped, one person gets free and then tries to rescue his friends. From there the story features some drug references, sex scenes, frequent swearing and gore, intertwined in a kind of finding yourself/coming of age subplot. The voice acting is fairly spot on, although at times the array of accents among the same group of people seems odd. Some seem a lil Australian, others Kiwi, others something completely different. While I'm on the sound, the music does the job, but I didn't find it anything to write home about. The gameplay gives the gamer many options, with a huge world to explore to do the 30 odd missions in, along with many more side-quests, and the option to claim bases, race and hunt. Lastly, I won't say too much, but I did find the ending unsatisfying. It certainly doesn't give enough away about what the future holds for any of the characters. The only reason I can think of is that they will, or are thinking about Far Cry 4 being a sequel to this, because to put so much work into a game and neglect the ending doesn't make sense. An enjoyable kart racing game featuring all the muppets with some humour from the characters that also come in the form of unlockable videos from the muppet films that add to that. The tracks are inspired by the films and feature some shortcuts that help you master them. Like CTR, the adventure mode allows for hours and hours of play that takes some patience and time to complete and extends the games longevity considerably. Along with basic racing, there is also a battle mode and a platform like mode. I loved this game and enjoy going back to it. In terms of kart games on the PS1, CTR probably has better driving physics and weapons-the biggest flaw this game has is probably the lack of weapons as there are only four of them-but this is a more challenging game and takes many more hours to master. Almost two years later this finally gets a release on Windows. I remember seeing the early trailers for this in 2009/10 and to me it seemed like it would be more adventure than action, but nevertheless one can't complain too much with the final product. Overall it is pretty much a Silent Hill game with a slightly more interesting story than in recent games. Positives: addictive gameplay, the environments are vast and highly detailed, interesting story, the score and voice acting is of a high standard, there is some originality in gameplay and it is very forgiving with checkpoints being plentiful. Negatives: the combat is a bit rough (particularly the ducking movement), the vehicle handling gets the job done but isn't brilliant, lack of different enemies, and the gameplay could have been less linear. Finally, as far as the horror portion of the game goes, a creepy atmosphere is created, but I don't think it quite pulls off frightening the gamer if that was the intention.
